Phew what a weekend!

Posted on

I had to work this past weekend, it was crazy!  Saturday was a relaxing day at work.  Not too busy, but busy enough not to be too boring.  Then Sunday I got to be on call and sit out Hurricane Irene at home.  Man was that a storm!  Monday I found out that the place we had my sister’s wedding was destroyed by the heavy rains.  Its simply devastating.  It made CNN news, that’s how horrible the damage is.

Yesterday and today I worked.  I am so glad that I am done for the week.  Tomorrow I am going to see my former and soon to be current dance teacher to get my new tap shoes!  I am so excited to start dance again!  I think it will be so fun!  I am also starting a yoga class at the end of September!

Tomorrow is also CSA day!  Last week was disappointing since we were the only row to miss out on peaches.  Hopefully we get yummy stuff

And onto the Derm

Posted on

I can add another Dr to the mix now.  A female dermatologist to look at my “stuff” to see what the heck is up with things.  My vulvodynia isn’t getting any better, and therefore my PFD isn’t getting any better, so it’s onto another specialist.  I would rather go to a Derm than an anesthesiologist to put needles in my back.  Hopefully she will have some ideas….until then PT is on hold because the PFD will always be there if the vulvodynia is acting up.  The waiting list is apparently very long to see her, she must be very popular!

I have acupuncture tomorrow, can’t wait!  I worked nights this week and it kicks my ass.  I can’t wait until they are over.  I couldn’t even bear the thought of going to get the veggies from the CSA today, so my mom went for me.  She ordered herself 5 lbs of italian flat beans I am going to pick up next week!  Crazy woman!

I have been avoiding gluten for about a good week now and feel so much better.  I can’t believe what a difference it makes!  No bloating, gas, and other discomforts.  I got gluten-free pancake mix which the BF and I enjoyed Saturday am and we both felt so great all day!  There really may be something to this…now if I had just avoided the organic melon and iced coffee that day I would have been great Sunday too!

CSA Day

Posted on

Yesterday was CSA day!  My favorite day of the week.  What a better way to spend hump day.  For me it’s not really hump day since I don’t work 5 days a week, Monday through Friday…but its still a great day!

The haul was

  • red potatoes
  • cucumbers
  • lettuce
  • kale
  • chard (some nice lady tried to give me extra, but I told her I didn’t cook it, but put it in smoothies so she just left it)
  • garlic, 1/2 of it goes to my dad to grow for next year
  • broccoli
  • tomatoes

Today is acupuncture!  She was on vacation last week so I missed a week, I’m excited to go.

IC Friendly Chicken Patties

Posted on

These were very bladder friendly for me and oh so good for both me and the BF.

What goes in it

1/2 medium onion chopped

2 cloves garlic minced

2 teaspoons old bay seasoning

1/2 cup dried italian breadcrumbs

1 egg

2 tablespoons dried parsley (or any other herbs you may like or 1/4 cup fresh herbs)

1 lb ground chicken

salt and pepper to taste

Mix all the ingredients together well. Divide  into 4 equal patties.  Cover and put into refrigerator to set for about an hour.  Grill on medium heat for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until cooked all the way through.  Serve on buns.

I made these again for the BF, Me and the girlies.  They were again great, but the girlies did not eat them.  One claimed an allergy to chicken patties, and the other decided to starve for the rest of the night.  I guess some people just don’t know good food when it hits them in the mouth!

The Flume

Posted on

Yesterday we took the girls to the Flume and then up the tramway at Cannon Mt.  Both are NH State Parks.  It was fun hiking around and seeing all the sites and mts way up north.  Last time we went to the flume was on the last day it was open in the fall and after a week of heavy rain.  It was full of rushing water, raining, and actually started snowing when we were there!  It was fun to see the difference between then and now.

Hiking is not a pelvic floor friendly activity.  I felt my muscles starting to tighten up from all the bouncing around, but came home and did some gentle stretching.  I plan on fitting in some yoga today to really stretch everything out.

CSA Day!!

Posted on

Its Wednesday so that means a new batch of fresh organic veggies for the week!  I love this day of the week, what a great way to spend hump day.  It’s also my Saturday since it’s the start of my long weekend (I’m done working until next Monday!) which is also great!

Today we got

  • celery, which is totally different from the stuff you get in the store, its kind of spicy
  • red potatoes
  • tomatoes
  • cucumbers
  • beets
  • green beans
  • lettuce
  • kale
  • zucchini
  • 3 ears of corn

There have been no signs of the bats since that awful Saturday morning.  I have been leaving the BF with instructions to leave the lights on and the back bedroom door closed before he leaves for work, so the house is light up when I get home.  We are working opposites right now.  I run into that room with the broom to get my clothes and run out!  I’m such a chicken!  I think it left Saturday night when I left the windows and screens open though.  But I’m not taking any chances.

On the bladder front.  I was paying close attention this weekend to what I ate and how it made me feel.  I think The Better Bladder Book in on to something with the gluten.  When ever I eat even a small amount, I feel gross, bloated, and in pain.  So I am going to trial cutting it out of my diet and see what that does for me.  I cut out all dairy, I can do this right!

I’ve got Bats in My Belfry

Posted on

I have at least 2 bats in my house!  EEKKK!!!  I woke up this morning at 3:30 to Stella being weird sitting on the edge of the bed sort of twitching like she was trying to catch a bug or moth.  Then something big flew right by my head and landed on the window right next to my face.  I could see it was a big moth or something and tried to close the window but it started flying again.  I turned on the light and knew we had a problem!  It flew into the other bedroom and into the closet.  I had turned on that light and saw it in there so I whipped off the light and slammed the door shut.  Then I ran downstairs and grabbed my computer and brought it up to the bedroom with me.

I was sitting with Stella on the bed when what the hell, but another one is flying around us.  I dive under the covers, then think, what the heck am I going to do about it under here?  I come up only to see it hit the wall and fall to the floor probably blinded by the bright light.  Stella looks at it and I tell her “No leave it Stella, No NO” and for once in her life that dog listened to me!  I grabbed my phone and ran out of the room with my computer and then tried to get Stella out of the room.  Poor thing was so confused.  This weird thing was flying around our house and I was yelling at her!  She was watching it fly around and I got her out of the room and shut the door.  I called work to tell them what was going on, they were going to call me back to get details (a code brown was going on there).

I went downstairs and waited for the phone call from work.  By now its 4:15am.  I”m freaking out and the dogs have no idea what is going on.  Work calls back and as I’m on the phone another winged animal starts flying around!  Being the brave person I am, I shrink into a corner.  The person on the other end tells me not to panic and since I’m up just to take the dogs somewhere.  And that they would take care of me not coming into work one way or another.

I shove Stella into her crate and take Luna outside on a leash.  Something I never do because she is so good.  Well that was the move of a lifetime because when I get out there she is growling at something in the yard.  She does her thing and I put her in the car for safe keeping.  I then ran in the house and grab Stella, who is now freaking out in her crate and we go outside and leave the front door wide open.  I was hoping the bat would just exit the property!  Well I found out what Luna was growling at….A skunk!!!  Could this get any worse?  Stella goes pee and I put her in the car and wait for another phone call from work as to what to plan for the day would be, if I was on call or had to be out.

After the phone call I ran back in the house and grabbed my keys and purse and left.  No glasses cuz they were upstairs with the bats.  I wasn’t going up there, nope so sir, no way!  I drove all the way to Concord, 45 minutes unable to see!  I soft of felt like those bats flying around my totally lit up house!  Good thing I know that road like the back of my hand!

My parents came back with me to grossly fix the hole in my dinning room ceiling from a plumbing issue a while back and look for said bats.  We didn’t find any after tearing this house apart leaving no curtain unturned (my mom called me a whimp for freaking out during the search).  I think the one flew out when the front door was open, but the other one is still up in the spare bedroom.  The plan is to open the windows in there this evening and let the ugly creature out.  YUCK!  I can’t believe this happened!  Funny though…same thing happened to my sister and her husband 3 different times!  They must have a thing for us!

Oh yeah it’s my mom’s birthday today…and she was nice enough to spend the day with me chasing bats!  Happy Birthday Mom!
